The Office of the Dean of Students provides 24-hour crisis management and incident response/follow-up services to University students. Those in need of support or referrals may contact us at (434) 924-7133 Monday - Friday from 8am to 5pm, or after hours by contacting the University Police Department at (434) 924-7166 and asking them to refer the issue to the Dean on Call.
Hazing has no place in the University experience. The University’s Hazing Prevention and Education website provides centralized and comprehensive information on this topic as well as information on how to report concerns of alleged hazing.
The University encourages prompt online reporting of sexual misconduct, hazing and bias complaints and concerns so that it can investigate the alleged facts for possible violation(s) of University policy, including the Standards of Conduct, and refer such complaints to law enforcement to determine whether an independent investigation for violation(s) of criminal law is warranted. A dean on call will respond promptly (typically within 24 hours) to any person who files a complaint online using this system. Students, faculty, staff and others in the community may use Just Report It to bring matters of concern to the attention of University officials.
Informs and supports anyone who has experienced sexual and gender based harassment and other forms if interpersonal violence. Resources include the University's Title IX office, Women's Center and Office of the Dean of Students.
